Mr. Siueni Filimone will be representing Tonga in the upcoming Rio 2016 Olympic Games. He will participate in the 100 meter dash. The entry mark for the 100m is 10.16 of which is far behind Siueni’s 10.6 seconds personal best in the Oceania games held in Fiji last month.

“This is a great highlight of my career and the Olympic Games means that this is a new height that God has taken me” Mr Filimone told Tupou College news. This is a new height for Tupou College Athletics Academy as well and as the young students who wants to pursue their talents.

“For those to follow in my footsteps there is no limit to a God gifted talent and all they have to do is to work hard and give it their best.

Siueni is the second person from Tupou College to be an Olympian. Filipo Muller in 2004 was part of the Tongan Team but under an Olympic Invitation.

2014 Athletics Sports

Good News everyone!!!!

The Inter-College Athletics is dawning and the Tupou College Boys are preparing endlessly to maintain the perfect record last year and that was winning the Competition.

Under the co-ordination of Rev Fotu’atungua Tu’akoi and the supervision of the rest of the coaches, the Sports team is gearing up to this years competition.

If i may i will keep you up to date with happenings for the sports competition

Let me remind you all that the Competition will be held on the 15th, 16th and the 17th next month.

Good Luck Everyone

Kick Starting of the 2013 Rugby Season

Our favourite sport is kicking off this week as Tupou College 1stXV will play against ‘Apifo’ou College as the main game at the Teufaiva Park. Tupou College has started this week in preparation for the season and what a way to start as the rugby greats Ex-Students came to load the players with skills and opportunities to play the game to its maximum best. Viliami ‘Ofahengaue “Willie O”, Siaosi ‘Atiola and Manu Tu’ipulotu came to the Mat of Helen to talk to the boys to how the game is played and how it should be.

Most of the Afternoon was theirs, talking with the coaches from the grades 1 to 5 and spent about an hour and a half with the senior team. For most of the boys they will never forget this day as ‘Willie O’ took the training session and so the Wallabies Great showed the boys that the old school training is still effective as the newly introduced methods of training.

We look forward to another fine result this year as the boys will be running on to the field with an unbeaten record for the last year. Just to remind the boys the Principal has vowed as a cancellations price for remaining unbeaten there will be a team tour to either New Zealand or Australia at the end of the season.

However the season will be tough as Tupou High School proved it to be by winning the Rugby League Season. Tupou High School will also try again this season because of their Silver Jubilee this year.

The boys however will not give up and I am sure with the help of the Ex-Students this year, this will be another year of triumphant and glory for the boys in blue.

Ko e Ola mo e taimitepile ‘o e fe’auhi he ta’uni ‘e ‘asi atu ia he peesi ‘o e sipoti.

Rugby League Finals mo e Kolisi Tonga

We now have come to the end of the Rugby League Season and 3 out of 4 teams from Tupou College will be playing for the final playoffs tomorrow. The Surprise Lost of the Under 19 side to Tupou High School was somehow appreciated by Tupou Old Boys because of the Golden Jubilee this year. It is now the under 13’s, under 15’s and the under 17’s whom will be taking the stage at the Tonga College ‘Mana Mo’ui’ sports grounds.

The history of the two schools all the way back to 1909. This year the two sides have met and the outcome was convincing enough to tell the winners but as the saying goes “It is not over until the fat lady sings” or “it is not over until the referee blows the whistle.”

The Under 13 lost their their round robin game to Tonga college by 3 tries to 1. Mesake Toumohuni is confident enough to take the shield back home. Christopher Puli’uvea has worked hard to shape the boys to a final of which the kids will never forget.Tu’akoi Havea the under 15 captain is also confident enough to show  off the skills of the boys of which ‘A ki he Lotu Vailea have taught them this year. The under 17’s remains unbeatable under the direction of Kelisimi ‘Atiola and together with the charisma of Kepu Tu’ifua they will try to rule the field as they have always did.

Lets just hope that tomorrow will be a day these mighty boys will wipe the tears of the senior from the surprise lost last Tuesday.
